In part one of the podcast, SVC Contributing Editor Bennett Liles talks with Thomas Riedel, managing director of Riedel Communications, about his company’s IBC award-winning technical support of the Red Bull Air Race. The company provided live video and sound from the planes, production communications, giant video screens for the crowd, and the Internet backbone. Riedel provides details on the logistics and setup of the event along with some background on MediorNet, the networking technology that was used to link all of these aspects of the show. The details of setting up the mobile airport and control tower are also discussed.
