In part one of this podcast, SVC contributing editor Bennett Liles talks with Phill Chapman and David Shepherd of Sound By Design, a London-based specialist in live sound systems for conferences and corporate events. Chapman and Shepherd discuss their setup for the annual gathering for workers of multibillion dollar health supply company Forever Living, which was staged in London’s 12,000-seat Wembley Arena this year. The show used 50 wireless microphones, RF in-ear monitoring, and dozens of wireless communication channels. They provide details on the challenges involved in coordinating sound and communication for such a large live event. Useful links:

It is my understanding that the PSM 900 does not interface with Wireless Workbench. You might want to inform those guys at Sound by Design before they go investing in something that doesn’t do what they think it does. Please inform me if I’m mistaken.

You are correct in that the PSM900 doesn’t interface directly with Wireless Workbench in the way that the UHF-R does (over a network) because it has been designed to compete directly with certain Sennheiser products at a certain price point. As I understand it, the software has recently been updated to allow the manual entry of PSM900 frequencies, much in the same way as you would for PSM700 systems. Saying that, even if the PSM900 couldn’t be used at all with Wireless workbench, I don’t think it would prevent us from investing in it.
