In this edition, SVC contributing editor Bennett Liles wraps up his conversation with Mark Siegel of Advanced Broadcast Solutions on the company’s installation of a distance learning facility in the new conference center of the Washington Bar Association in Seattle. Siegel discusses the challenges involved in training non-broadcast professionals in the use of the technical gear used in the conference center. They discuss MediorNet, PA mixing for the event, and communications including telephone and wireless links along with walkie-talkie interfaces. Riedel also details the Internet and data backbone that the company provided for the event and the wireless video links used to feed the huge video screens for the crowd at the show.

The company provided live video and sound from the planes, production communications, giant video screens for the crowd, and the Internet backbone. Riedel provides details on the logistics and setup of the event along with some background on MediorNet, the networking technology that was used to link all of these aspects of the show. The details of setting up the mobile airport and control tower are also discussed.
