In this edition of the SVC Podcast, SVC Contributing Editor Bennett Liles continues his conversation with senior communications technician Scott Brosious about the new remote van that just went into service for California PEG station Riverside Government TV. Brosious gets into the AJA Ki Pro recorders, the LiveU video-over-cellular transmitter, the van’s MotoSAT satellite transmitter, and the BroadcastPix Granite 500 switcher. He also discusses the van’s audio capabilities and reveals the wide variety of program formats the van is required to handle.

In this edition of the SVC Podcast, SVC Contributing Editor Bennett Liles continues his chat with Ryan McCurdy from Historic Tours of America about his show control installation at the Oldest Store Museum Experience in St. Augustine, Florida. The exhibit conveys the atmosphere of a turn of the century general store by mixing triggered sound and video with live actors and it even includes an audio animatronic butcher. McCurdy expands on the show design and installation along with the initial testing and tweaking of the event timing. He also discusses his remote monitoring and programming capability.

Hoyle provides more details on the Whitley Auditorium sound system including the mixer, wireless microphones, and the audio processor. He discusses the scheduling of the installation around the venue’s crowded event lineup, and outlines the final testing and tweaking of the whole system and how it performed in its first real event.

The venue was designed in the 1920’s as an acoustical environment for its Casavant pipe organ, but over the years it has come to be used for a wide variety of events. Hoyle recounts how Audio & Light installed a sound system centered on the DAS Audio Variant series speaker array and how the acoustic environment was initially analyzed.
